It is with great pride that I once again welcome you to join us at the 187th edition of the Expo Lachute Fair – the oldest agricultural fair in Quebec and the second oldest fair in all of Canada.
Growing up, I fondly remember the fun and excitement that the Lachute Fair brought to our family. As my own family has grown, we too have shared great times and traditions at the fair – from playing games at the midway, to touring the exhibit barns and checking out the displays, or gathering as a family to watch the many entertainers.
I am proud that my family has embraced the fair and all it has to offer.
The Lachute Fair has a vast amount of education, entertainment and excitement for all ages. As we move forward with our 2012 fair we must maintain our agricultural roots but also plan for the future.
Every year, I look forward to the Lachute Fair with great anticipation, it gives the community an opportunity to feature local talent and to shine the light on new rising stars. It is an occasion to renew acquaintances and greet neighbors. Most importantly, it’s a time to celebrate our unique rural community spirit.
Hoping to help increase the visibility of our local farmers, we will once again be featuring a farmer’s market at this year’s fair and we invite our local agricultural producers to contact us if they would like to participate.
The roar of stunt cars will also herald in a new Friday night attraction that is sure to generate some noise when the ‘Hell Drivers’ race onto the exhibition grounds for an auto thrill show that will see cars flying, jumping and crashing through the air. If watching flying cars isn’t your thing, then come to cheer on the daredevil motorcycle drivers, or wander over to the agricultural ring for some livestock judging or a ride on the midway!
As President of this great organization, I would like to mention that our fair would not be such a great success without our excellent board of directors and the countless number of volunteers and sponsors who help us every year. My board has given me all of their support for my two years as President and I would like to personally thank each and every one of them.
